Geisinger seeks a BC/BE Movement Disorder Neurologist to join our growing team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties
Full time out-patient movement disorders neurologist position (no call).
Join our existing care team consisting of one other fellowship trained movement disorders neurologist, two functional neurosurgeons, a dedicated and an experienced nurse navigator to build a program in northeast Pennsylvania.
Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is northeast Pennsylvania’s premier tertiary care center with three hundred beds and home to the region’s only comprehensive stroke center, a level II trauma center, the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, and the Tambur Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A new acute care tower with expanded critical care beds is currently under construction.
The neurology clinic is located in a brand-new free-standing medical office building on the GWV campus.
Geisinger’s neurology department uses a system wide telestroke and nighttime teleneurology coverage from the Geisinger system.
This is an out-patient position with no hospital coverage or nighttime call.
We are implementing a new teleneurology screening process to ensure that our new neurology clinic referrals see the most appropriate subspecialists.
The ideal candidate would be a graduate from a movement disorders fellowship program with strong clinical skills, interest in teaching the next generation of providers, and experience with botulinum toxin for dystonia and managing deep brain stimulation.
Medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine rotate through the service, and there is a new neurology residency program based at GWV, with ample opportunities for teaching.
Faculty appointments and more formal roles in education are available for qualified candidates. There is a robust video-EEG monitoring program, with remote reading from the Geisinger system.
There is local support from neurology’s on-site multispecialty outpatient group.
Geisinger offers competitive salary, sign on bonus and relocation expenses.
Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) is a wonderful place to live, with safe neighborhoods, an affordable cost of living and access to recreational activities.
