A Brief Summary of This Position
This is an Individual Contributor position in the Irrigation division. Working under the direction of the center’s manager, and within the guidelines of established procedures, the Warehouse Associate is responsible for selecting the appropriate item, packing it properly and moving any needed material. The incumbent has a direct effect on the level of customer service Valmont provides as a shipment error or incomplete shipment could cost our customer downtime and loss of crop. This position requires close attention to detail to accurately pick and pack the correct parts. Those parts are then prepared for shipmen, and the appropriate documentation is sent with each order. Parts can be loaded on a trailer or container, sent by express courier, or put in a vehicle for direct delivery to a local customer. The position of the Warehouse Associate also involves order entry processing, inventory control functions such as perform cycle counts, investigate and resolve discrepancies as well as direct customer service. The incumbent also participates in Lean projects within the facility and works in a manner consistent with company safety policies.
Essential Functions
+ Operate the following pieces of production equipment: forklifts
+ Accurately pick, pack, and ship items based on customer orders
+ Deliver a high level of customer service
+ Inventory control activities including cycle counts
+ Data entry and order processing
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is 20 pounds
+ Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as work in non-temperature controlled environment
+ Ability to stand/walk up to 100% of shift
+ Ability to become DOT certified, in order to drive Valmont vehicles
+ This position reports into the Distribution Center Manager and has no direct reports
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
+ High school diploma/GED and 2+ years of relevant education/work experience
+ The ability to work over 10 hours a week in overtime, as business needs require
+ Experience operating a personal computer in a professional environment
+ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
+ Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
+ Previous experience in picking, packing, shipping or distribution

The noise level can be loud at times. The incumbent works around material which is stacked overhead height. If assigned a forklift responsibility, many employees notice a constant jarring and bouncing while operating a forklift. Working conditions may vary with specific work assignments and areas. Safety glasses and metatarsal safety shoes are required in the warehouse area. The employee needs to be able to spend the entire work shift within this production environment.

Must be able to withstand this physical effort for the duration of designated shift.
