Position Summary:
The Information Services (IS) Junior Project Manager (JPM) will assist in the selection, planning, implementation, evaluation, end‐user (user) support and vendor relations service management of application initiatives. The JPM functions in a collaborative role with an established user application manager. Along with a mentor, this position is responsible for helping to manage the customer‐supplier relationship between Information Services and established operational group(s).
The JPM is accountable for developing a liaison relationship which requires field work, understanding work processes indigenous to the operational group, and developing a system or methodology to support the work of the operational group from a technical or systems perspective. Along with a mentor, the JPM is responsible for establishing vendor relationships for both the term of the project and for on‐going service management. The JPM must have an understanding of how information technology systems work in concert to provide services to the user community and support the goals of the organization. Must possess an understanding of health related applications and be able to apply technology to solve user problems.
Education, License & Cert:
• BS, BA in computer science or related field
Experience:
• 2 years demonstrated IT experience in complex health‐care environment
• 2 years demonstrated project leader experience
Essential Functions:

1. Contacts and meets with customers to suggest and discuss the development of new systems, the evaluation of existing systems, and the acquisition of vendor packages by developing a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s requirements. 2. Works in conjunction with an operational Project Leader or application manager for major system implementations providing all aspects of project management associated with the implementations.
3. Works with IS leadership, other PMs, vendor and operational teams to prepare implementation plans concerning systems development, modifications, and installation/implementation of vendor systems.
4. Works with Vendor Project Team and Vendor Management Team to resolve issues and/or risks that could impact the project timeline, scope, or cost.
5. Develops and maintains the necessary procedures to assure an efficient flow of user requests for IS application resources for projects and on‐going service support.
6. Participates in needs assessment, requirements definition, requests for proposal, site visits, vendor demonstrations, communication with vendors, contract negotiation, vendor selection, and all aspects of the project management life cycle.
7. Promotes continuous quality improvement, reengineering, and supports tenets of a learning organization.
8. Maintains current knowledge of technology and industry trends with particular emphasis to technology related to the health care industry and the business drivers of the Healthcare System.
