    Reports to: Chief Financial Officer / Business Manager

     

    Positions Supervised Directly: Cleaning/Maintenance Staff, Maintenance Mechanic

    Purpose of Position:

    The Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds is responsible for the leadership, supervison, and overall management, operations and programs of Buildings and Grounds. This position ensures the efficient functioning and operation of school's facilities and that a safe, clean, attractive and functional environment exists for the students, employees and community.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Leadership and Planning, must be a "Team Player", contributes to work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

    + Interprets and supervises the implementation of school policies with respect to buildings and grounds.

    + Directs, plans, develops, implements, evaluates and supervises facilities, engineering, construction, maintenance and support systems e.g. building maintenance system.

    + Prepares and delivers reports required by the Business Manager, Superintendent and Board of Trustees

    + Formulates maintenance department goals

    + Develops and implements a schedule of maintenance on a weekly, monthly and annual basis

    + Manages and works with outside contractors and consultants in overseeing new construction and major repair work

    + Responsible for maintaining and coordinating both Building Management System and Security Systems in conjunction with vendors

    + Supervisor is responsible for training employees in proper custodial procedures in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices and classrooms; include the use of manually operated tools, electrically powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals.

    + May need to supervise and perform work involving floor scrubbing, stripping and waxing.

    + Position is a working supervisor position, and requires both office and clerical duties, as well as hands on maintenance and custodian duties

    Employee Development:

    + Participates in employee evaluations

    + Recruits in the hiring and supervision of maintenance and cleaning personnel

    Budgeting:

    + Develops, oversees, maintains, and refines department budget for operations of facilities

    + Contacts vendors; obtains bids as required by the Board of Trustees and any SED regulations for equipment materials, supplies, and services

    + Develops specifications for new purchases of equipment, materials, supplies, and services

    Required Qualifications:

    + High School Diploma

    + At least 5 years of experience in construction management, supervision and or maintenance of facilities experiences

    + Familiarity with plowing and landscaping equipment and maintenance

    + Previous experience in managing construction projects

    + Must have knowledge of HVAC systems and boiler operations

    + High level communication skills

    + Ability to work independently

    + Evidence of sound technology skills

    + Ability to interpret detailed written instructions, blueprints, and schematic drawings

    + Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines as it relates to building operations

    Additional Information:

    * Must be willing and able to work in the following conditions: dusty, wet, cold, hot, high,

     

    humidity, noisy, indoors, outdoors, on ladders, in small spaces and on a roof.

     

    * Must be able to carry 50 pounds

    * Have a valid NY State Driver's license

    * Requires Fingerprinting & Criminal Background Check

    Hours:

    Regular Hours - 7am to 3 pm M-F. The hours may include weekends for coverage of on-call emergencies, and required hours for inclement weather and snow removal.

     

    Pay Range: $63,000 to $70,000 depending on experience
