    Job Summary:

    The Assistant Vice President (AVP) Data Engineering role will oversee the development and implementation of data solutions to support business objectives. This includes designing and deploying scalable data platforms, managing data integration and quality, and developing advanced analytics and reporting capabilities. The AVP will also be responsible for executing a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring compliance with data governance standards, and leading a team of data professionals to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration while partnering with the data sciences unit on the delivery of self-service analytics and a fully functional medallion data architecture.

     

    Key qualifications for this role include: a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred, experience in data solution implementation, proficiency in data integration and analytics tools, and strong knowledge of insurance operations. The ideal candidate will also have experience with cloud platforms, modern data technologies, and predictive analytics. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential, along with proven project management experience.

    Job Description:

    Solution Design and Implementation:

    + Collaborate with business & IT leaders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements for data solutions

    + Design, configure, and deploy scalable data platforms and analytics tools tailored to insurance operations

    Data Integration and Management:

    + Manage the integration of disparate data sources, ensuring seamless data flow between systems such as underwriting, claims, policy management, and CRMOversee data cleansing, transformation, and validation processes to ensure data quality and consistency

    Analytics and Reporting:

    + Develop and implement advanced analytics and reporting capabilities to support decision-making

    + Ensure solutions align with regulatory standards and support compliance reporting

    Client Collaboration and Training:

    + Work closely with client stakeholders, including actuaries, underwriters, and IT teams, to ensure successful adoption of data solutions

    + Provide training and ongoing support to client teams for optimal utilization of implemented systems

    Project Management:

    + Lead project planning, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope

    + Monitor and manage risks associated with solution deployment, offering mitigation strategies when needed

    Continuous Improvement:

    + Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in data analytics and insurance to recommend innovative solutions

    + Gather and analyze feedback post-implementation to drive continuous improvement

     

    Leadership and Team Building

     

    + Builds high performance teams through effective training, mentoring, delegating, and providing feedback to members the Department

    + Mentors and trains team members to be highly proficient in their job function but also build an environment of trust and the future leaders of TMNAS

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

    + 10+ years of relevant experience

    + 3 years of experience in implementing data solutions, preferably within the insurance industry

    + Proficiency in modern data platforms tools (e.g., Informatica, Snowflake, Databricks) and analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Cognos)

    + Experience with building foundational and modern data mesh architectures with automated Data Governance capabilities with consideration for emerging technologies

    + Good knowledge of insurance operations, including underwriting, claims, and regulatory compliance

    + Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R

    + Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

    + Proven project management experience: PMP or Agile certifications are a plus

    + Ability to weigh business needs against security concerns and articulate to management

    + Knowledge of organizational politics and political tactics; ability to effectively navigate formal and informal communication and decision-making channels

    + Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations

    + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and strong knowledge in Microsoft Excel preferred

    + Ability to write business requirements and functional specifications

    + Strong customer service orientation toward Business Units requiring financial consultation (responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate)

    + Strong leadership ability; able to work with a group to set its objectives and agenda, generate allegiance to those objectives, and guide and motivate achievement

    + Strong project management skills: Plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, to achieve project objectives and deadlines

    + Strong interpersonal relationship building skills: able to work with a variety of people and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner

    + Strong analytical ability with the capability to determine the root cause of problems and issues and provide solutions

    + Strategic thinking: Applies organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization

    + Superior attention to detail

    + Ability to juggle multiple, competing, frequently changing time-sensitive deadlines and priorities

    + Ability to work independently and without supervision

    + Ability to work and lead effectively as part of a team

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, SQL a plus)

    + Knowledge of predictive analytics and machine learning models specific to insurance use cases

    + Master’s degree preferred

     

    Salary range $160,000 to $180,000 . Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
