Job Title: Switchman/Loader – Louisville, KY

Starting Pay: $20.00/hour

Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 2:00 AM start; Tuesday/Thursday – standard daytime hours

Road & Rail Services is hiring a Switchman/Loader for our Louisville, KY location. This hybrid role combines railcar switching operations with transload loading duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, reliable work history, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions. Outdoor work experience is required.

This position starts at $20/hour with opportunities for advancement, full benefits, and a team-oriented environment.

What You'll Do:

Switching Responsibilities (MWF – 2:00 AM Start, First Out):

+ Safely switch and move railcars using locomotive power

+ Operate switches and conduct railcar inspections

+ Use hand signals or radios to communicate with crew members

+ Maintain accurate logs of switching activities

Loader Responsibilities (Daily, Including T/Th Normal Start Time):

+ Safely transfer hazardous and non-hazardous materials between tank cars and trucks

+ Operate equipment such as pumps, hoses, and valves

+ Conduct product prep (e.g., heating, sparging, sampling)

+ Complete transfer logs, inspections, and compliance documentation

+ Perform preventative maintenance on loading equipment

+ What We're Looking For:

+ High school diploma or GED

+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

+ Outdoor work experience required

+ Physically able to walk long distances, lift 60 lbs, bend, climb ladders, and wear full-body PPE including hazmat suits if needed

+ Excellent attention to detail and safety

+ Strong work tenure and consistent job history preferred

+ Prior rail, industrial, or chemical handling experience is a plus
