Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager (Manager 1) to lead a team of software engineers within the NOMAD team at Comcast. This role is ideal for a technically strong individual who is growing into engineering leadership. You will guide a small team while contributing directly to the development of cloud-native, microservice-based automation tools that support Comcast’s next-generation access and core networks.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

+ Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

+ Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of automation tools and services.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables.

+ Drive engineering best practices, including test-driven development, CI/CD, and scalable architecture.

+ Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management of team members.

+ Ensure delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.

+ Promote NOMAD’s automation-first philosophy: “If you repeat an action/activity, you are doing it wrong.”

Preferred Qualifications

+ 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 1+ years in a technical leadership or management role.

+ Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, Golang. Additional but optional – Java, JavaScript

+ Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.

+ Experience with Unix/Linux environments and cloud-native development.

+ Familiarity with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and microservices.

+ Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and deployment strategies.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Experience with Git, Bash scripting, and YAML or similar data serialization formats.
