Head Women’s Basketball Coach/Recruitment and Retention Coordinator
The Head Women’s Basketball Coach/Recruitment and Retention Coordinator (Assistant Director 3) has the primary responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the Women’s Basketball program. Reporting to the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation, this position will coordinate the operations, coaching and cultivation of Kean’s Division III team and its student-athletes. This includes, but is not limited to: recruitment and retention of student-athletes; scheduling; fundraising; travel arrangements; budget; and performing related work as assigned. Additionally, this role supports department-wide initiatives focused on recruitment, matriculation, NCAA compliance and retention of student-athletes across all programs.
This individual will support the mission of the University and bring knowledge and passion for women’s basketball and Kean athletics.
This is a 12-month position which requires travel, including overnight trips and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of intercollegiate coaching experience and/or professional experience in the sport of basketball, as well as demonstrated skills in developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic, academic and personal success is required. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Candidate must have knowledge of and the ability to coach the sport of basketball; strong organizational and coordination skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; and excellent oral and written communication skills. **NOTE:** This position also requires the ability to perform essential functions including, but not limited to: the ability to physically lift, position, move and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; walking long distances/standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors in varied temperatures; and exposure to high noise levels.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is: $71,238.41 to $77,715.97 (Steps 3-5). Salaries for internal applicants will be based on union negotiated calculations. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance.
