Job Overview
The Surgical Technologist Learner performs tasks and responsibilities while studying toward a Surgical Technologist Degree within limits of current training; work is guided and overseen by a Supervisor/Lead. The Surgical Technologist Learner is responsible for adhering to all safety standards, policies, procedures, and practice guidelines, promoting teamwork with all members of the health care team, maintain. Upon successful completion of the Surgical Technologist Learner program, the expectation is to transfer into a Surgical Technologist position with the organization. Additional Details: Learners work a .6 FTE (48 hours per two-week pay period) at the hospital and must be accepted into Rasmussen University (the Brooklyn Park Campus) after receiving a job offer. Rasmussen's Surg Tech program is 18-21 months with this October as the next program. Starting wage while working in this role is $22.00/hour and as Learners progress in their program they will receive quarterly increases ending in $28.00.
Required Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Upon job offer, must be eligible for admission/enrollment in the Surgical Technologist Program at Rasmussen University; the partner education institution selected by Fairview. Proof of enrollment may be requested. Must maintain full time enrollment and passing grades in coursework.
+ Interest in becoming a Surgical Technologist and working in the healthcare field with a team-based approach.
+ Basic customer service skills, clinical skills, and computer skills
+ Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) through American Red Cross within 1 Year
+ American Heart Association upon completion of the apprenticeship program.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge of medical terminology, prior healthcare experience, preferably as a instrument tech, LPN, nursing assistant or other closely related field.
+ Excellent customer service and communication.
+ Attention to detail.
+ Ability to work in a team environment.
