ACADEMIC PROGRAMS ASSISTANT, Physics - Academic Programs Office (APO), to provide administrative support for the department’s teaching staff and faculty and administrators overseeing its course offerings; serve as a resource for faculty and teaching staff in managing courses; schedule meetings, grade sessions, tutor sessions, exam reviews, and other activities; work with faculty, students, and disabilities office on providing testing accommodations; post routine data on course websites and managing online grade reports; coordinate final exam schedule; facilitate the scheduling of section lecturers and recitation instructors; coordinate "who’s teaching what" process and ensure teaching information is up-to-date; maintaining teaching and TA assignment histories; coordinating subject evaluation process and providing reports; coordinating Independent Activities Period subjects/events; publicizing non-credit offerings; providing data and reports on a variety of issues; maintaining office supplies; assisting academic administrator as requested; and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of three years administrative, office, or related experience; experience in student services or similar position; experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and FileMaker; accurate data entry and proofreading; meticulous attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills; discretion with confidential material; interest in working with students and faculty to ensure they are successful in the department’s academic programs; desire to work in a team-oriented environment; ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties simultaneously despite frequent interruptions, work independently, understand the impact of policy and process changes on the education program, identify issues of interest in the education program and propose solutions, and work with a diverse group of people. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree; MIT experience; and experience with FileMaker Pro. Job #25082-5

Salary range: $24.28 - $29.00
