Wear Layer Technician

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for a Wear Layer Technician to ensure that the Wear Layer p rocess remains safely running while producing a quality product for internal downstream customers. This position reports to the shift PC with direction given from the Wear Layer Lead.

Responsibilities:

+ Making machine/process adjustments online and on computer .

+ Visual inspections of products for defects and grading.

+ Following specific instructions on each order.

+ Maintaining operation of production equipment .

+ Achieving set quality standards.

+ Overall visual control of the assigned section of the line (rotating).

+ Monitoring parameters to ensure process specifications are maintained .

+ Performing quality checks on finished product s using qualitative and quantitative methods.

+ Assist the Department Lead in the daily production of quality Resilient flooring in the safest, most efficient, and productive manner, by utilizing established methods and procedures

+ Work safely and cooperatively with the members of your team and all Shaw associates

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

+ Must have fun and treat your teammates with respect.

+ Must have the ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math.

+ Must possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

+ Must be familiar with or willing to learn current computer systems and software.

+ Proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels of associates.

+ Must meet minimal Shaw vision testing requirements including color blindness

+ Must be able to tolerate changes in temperature and humidity

+ Must be able to occasionally climb stairs to operate equipment

+ Must have basic reading & writing skills in order to read & comprehend shipping documents, product numbers and bin / storage locations.

+ Must be able to work without close supervision.

+ Must have the ability to be cross trained for other jobs.

+ Must have a passion for achieving results

+ Must be able to work professionally with all Shaw associates and our guests.

+ Must make good, safe decisions in a timely manner .
