    Summary:

    The Behavioral Health Coordinator position is responsible for reviewing incoming Behavioral Health referrals to determine if they are in scope with the Ambulatory LCSW supported program, scheduling patient appointments, reviewing and updating insurance coverage and obtaining necessary prior authorizations. This position works closely with the LCSW team and primary care practice staff/providers. This includes ensuring all referrals complete intake in a timely manner, obtaining necessary information from clients, and meeting client service level agreements for referral acceptance, scheduling appointments and report turnaround times.

    Responsibilities:

    • Reviews and addresses referrals in a timely manner.

    • Accurately schedules appropriate patient appointments with the LCSW team.

    • Verifies patient eligibility for Behavioral Health counseling services.

    • Obtains any prior authorizations require by patients’ insurance.

    • Correctly updates registration/coverage in Epic to reflect patients Behavioral Health payor information.

    • Answers and relays incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls when needed.

    • Provides general clerical support functions to ensure efficient utilization of time, in part by scheduling meetings, patients and appointments; maintaining calendars; coordinating with other clinical services.

    Other information:

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Driver's license and access to transportation

    Preferred

    • 1-2 years of experience working in mental health or related field.

    • Experience with healthcare billing &/or insurance.

    • Medical clerical experience in a hospital, physician practice, clinic, nursing home or insurance agency

    • Experience navigating an electronic medical record (such as Epic)
