Operating on the brain requires extreme precision, and the neurosurgery team at Cleveland Clinic has years of training and experience in the most complex brain and spine surgeries. The neurosurgery team uses state-of-the-art tools to operate safely and, as often as possible, with minimally invasive techniques. This team treats a wide range of conditions affecting the brain and spine, including brain hematoma, cavernoma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, Chiari malformation, epilepsy, facial pain, normal pressure hydrocephalus, pseudotumor cerebri, skull base dehiscence and subdural hematoma.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 5:30PM, with an on-call requirement of 5:30PM - 7:00AM, 2-3 days per week, including holidays and weekends.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Operate all radiology, fluoroscope, and navigational equipment needed to fully support neuro and spine cases (this includes Brainlab, Medtronic Stealth, Medtronic AxiEm, O-Arm, Z-Kat, Leo, C-Arm, Plain films).
+ Work side by side with physicians in planning images for case development and support.
+ Move equipment into each OR as needed and back to cores when done for the day.
+ Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
+ Maintain documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
+ Notify management and take proper action to address all equipment malfunctions.
+ Provide instruction/mentoring to RRTs in the radiology department who will perform these duties while this person is out on PTO.
+ Monitor and determine priority of patients. Helps develop plan of care with surgical team.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
+ Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists RT(ARRT), in good standing
+ Current state licensure (Radiologic License)
+ Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes
+ Can communicate well with radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients
+ Effective communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families
+ Can function well with minimal or no direct supervision.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:
+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
+ Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients; e.g., pushing beds, stretchers and wheelchairs.
+ Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment.
