    This Opportunity

     

    WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Part-time Construction Materials Technician** for our **Novi** **, MI** office. This role will allow you to be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

    Your Impact

    + Perform field testing and inspections for soils, and aggregates in accordance with relevant standards

    + Obtaining field samples and conducting soil and asphalt compaction testing

    + Preparation of field compaction reports, laboratory testing reports, and other office assignments

    + Ensuring field and laboratory equipment is maintained, repaired, and calibrated as required

    + Maintain equipment, inventory and records required for an AASHTO certified laboratory

    + Identify and develop new business opportunities

    + Adhering to all company safety rules and policies

     

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    + High School Diploma.

    + 5+ years of relevant experience

    + MDOT Density Control Certification

    + Academic background in Civil Engineering Technology as asset

    + ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Level I, an asset

    + ACI Concrete Advanced Concrete Technician – Level II, an asset

    + ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician, an asset

    + MDOT Aggregate Inspection - Level 1 certification, an asset

    + MDOT Aggregate Inspection - Level 2 an asset

    + MDOT HMA Level 1, an asset

    + MDOT HMA Paving Operations, an asset

    + MDOT HMA QC/QA Certification, an asset

    + Familiar with civil construction practices and relevant testing standards

    + Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel

    + Familiar with Quality Management Systems

    + Strong written, verbal communication and people management skills

    + Able to work independently in an office / laboratory setting and liaise with local office manager and supervisors

    + Valid driver's license with acceptable driving experience

    + Travel out of town and willing to work overtime and extended hours
