Assistant Director of Student Belonging

The Assistant Director of Student Belonging plays a critical role in fostering a school environment where all students feel seen, valued, and supported. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Institutional Belonging and across departments to enhance student-centered programming, amplify student voice, and foster a culture of inclusion and connection. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, student-focused, and passionate about building programs that promote equity and well-being.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support EDIB Programming and Mentorship Initiatives
+ Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Belonging to design, implement, and evaluate student-centered programming and mentorship initiatives that foster connection and support across identity groups and grade levels.
Student Affinity Groups and Leadership Development
+ Oversee the development and sustainability of student affinity groups, ensuring they are student-led, well-supported, and aligned with the School’s belonging goals.
+ In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Belonging, develop leadership training and support for student leaders, affinity group facilitators, and peer mentors.
+ Coordinate initiatives that amplify student voice across campus, including student forums, panels, and collaborative projects, to foster a sense of community and engagement.
Collaboration and Student Support
+ Work closely with the Student Life, Counseling, and Academic departments to support the holistic well-being of students in grades 6–12.
+ Partner with the Assistant Director of Family Support to maintain a shared caseload of students, ensuring coordinated and responsive support for those navigating academic, social-emotional, or cultural challenges.
Survey Implementation and Culture Assessment
+ In partnership with the Director of Institutional Belonging, lead the planning and administration of the School’s internal climate, culture, and belonging surveys.
+ Analyze and share findings with relevant stakeholders, using data to inform and refine student belonging initiatives.
Summer and Auxiliary Programming
+ Oversee the growth, staffing, and implementation of student onboarding programs, including but not limited to Knights Academy and other summer bridge opportunities.
+ Develop after-school and enrichment programs that extend the school’s mission beyond the classroom and nurture a sense of belonging through community-building activities.
Operational and Administrative Support
+ Assist the EDIB team with administrative and operational tasks designed to enhance departmental efficiency.
+ Support calendar management, meeting scheduling, agenda distribution, and note-taking for EDIB-related meetings and initiatives.
+ Help streamline internal processes and ensure timely follow-up on action items across EDIB programming and collaborations.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Demonstrated experience working with middle and/or high school students in an educational or youth development setting
+ Strong understanding of equity and belonging practices in school environments
+ Experience with student leadership training, mentoring, or affinity group facilitation
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
+ Strong organizational skills and experience managing programs or initiatives across multiple timelines
+ Proficiency in managing calendars, scheduling, and organizing meetings and agendas
+ Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in education, social work, or related field preferred

Pay range:
In the spirit of pay transparency we share the base salary range for this position for the 2025-2026 academic year. The full pay range, which encompasses all experience levels is $85,000 - $120,000. Within this broad range, we pay in accordance with what could be reasonably expected based on an individual's experience level. Base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at Menlo are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at Menlo School, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the generous range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for Menlo School in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
