    Job Description

    This role will report in-person to our Knoxville, TN office.

     

    The purpose of this position is to support the Sales Tax team from a technology perspective to aid in system implementation, integration and configuration for the preparation, filing, and reconciliation of various state and local sales tax returns.

    Essential Functions

    1. Prepare monthly tax pre-compliance data manipulation and loading into tax filing software

    2. Maintain tax system jurisdictions and jurisdictional rates based on current law

    3. Examine and evaluate the purpose and content of tax reports to develop new or improve existing report content and completeness

    4. Analyze data for reconciliations to ensure tax liabilities are accurately stated; Reconcile tax accounts, investigate discrepancies, and make recommendations for account resolution; Prepare journal entries as necessary

    5. Develop and maintain Alteryx scripts in support of data integrations and transformations necessary to enable the automated preparation of returns and reconciliations

    6. Proactively gain knowledge and update tax users with training of new functionality in Vertex/PDI/Alteryx

    7. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

    8. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

    9. Complete other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in accounting, finance, or other business-related field

    2. Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Alteryx)

    Specialized Knowledge

    1. Sales Tax Accountant II level or above

    2. Proficient to advanced Microsoft Office skills

    3. Experience with Vertex, PDI, Alteryx, and Right Angle software

    Competencies

    Additional Information

     

    Overnight Travel

     

    Overnight travel required is up to 5%

    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    1. General office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of time

    2. Able to lift up to 30 lbs.

    3. Able to work evenings, weekends and odd hours as needed
