    Job Description

    **Turner & Townsend** are seeking a highly motivated and experienced **Senior Sustainability Consultant** to support the growth of our Sustainability team and a major international Oil & Gas client by driving the implementation of our client’s sustainability strategy across capital projects in North America. This role is located near Houston to enable in-person collaborative working, and foster strong team engagement, both at our office and clients’ offices. This client role will be pivotal in ensuring carbon assurance, performance tracking, and compliance with internal and external standards throughout the asset lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed sustainability into project delivery, support carbon calculations, and align regional initiatives with global Net Zero goals.

     

    This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainability, capital planning, and performance management—delivering measurable impact across energy, carbon, water, waste, circularity, and biodiversity.

    General accountabilities

    + Support the day-to-day operational management of the sustainability team.

    + Develop and maintain existing client relationships to identify new business opportunities and securing business opportunities with new clients.

    + Work with bid teams to write technical solutions to meet client requirements

    + Ensure fee-earning activities are optimized and project deliverables are met.

    + Embedding Sustainability into Turner & Townsend’s processes and procedures for the delivery of projects and program

    + Develop internal stakeholder relationships with infrastructure, real estate, and natural resources sectors, liaising with Key Account Managers and sector leads.

    + SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

    Strategic leadership & collaboration

    + Lead regional sustainability initiatives and align them with long-term strategic plans.

    + Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to set and validate sustainability targets.

    + Coordinate with global sustainability teams to ensure alignment with corporate frameworks and share regional insights.

    Carbon & energy performance

    + Lead carbon assurance throughout project life cycle.

    + Provide oversight and support for embodied and operational carbon calculations, including baseline validation and benchmarking using appropriate tools and methodologies.

    + Analyze CRREM reports to assess project alignment with the Paris Agreement and other climate targets such as Energy Use Intensity (EUI) targets and recommend interventions to improve energy efficiency.

    Project delivery & compliance

    + Ensure key standards are applied across all project stages, using a risk-based approach to set targets for energy, water, waste, circularity, and biodiversity.

    + Support investment screening by evaluating the carbon vs. cost trade-offs of planned interventions and confirming annual CO₂e targets.

    Knowledge management & continuous improvement

    + Capture and share lessons learned to inform future initiatives and delivery.

    + Contribute to internal knowledge bases and support the development of learning programs.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree required

    + Professionally qualified member of a recognized institution, e.g., LEED, Green Globes, WELL Building

    Knowledge / Experience

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience of delivering Sustainability construction consultancy support for clients is essential, including the areas of energy, carbon, water, waste, circular economy, and biodiversity.

    + Experience of working in different sectors is desired, for both new build and retrofit.

    + Real Estate and Infrastructure sectors (e.g., transport, utilities, defense, energy, civils, oil & gas).

    + Commercial and Industrial (e.g., finance, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing).

    + Comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainability issues.

    + Knowledge and experience of lifecycle assessments, embodied carbon and low-carbon constructions methods.

    + Experience of providing environmental and sustainability assurance throughout the lifecycle of major projects and programs.

    + Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and matrix management organizations on major projects and programs.

    + Ability to communicate with clients and other key stakeholders on global, national, and regional issues, including the Climate and Biodiversity Emergency and Net Zero Emissions.

    + Able to build strong, professional client relationships.

    + Proactively identifies and resolves client’s issues.

    + Working in a team environment, with ability to adapt as required.

    + Attention to detail in service delivery, communications, and ways of working with others.

    + Excellent communication including writing skills.

     

    Additional Information

     

    The salary range for this full-time role is $120K-$145K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.*On-site presence and requirements may change depending on our client's needs*
