Reports to: Assistant Director of Staffing and Recruitment
Position Overview:
The Recruitment Specialist is essential in developing, executing, and enhancing a comprehensive recruitment and talent acquisition strategy for Boston Public Schools (BPS).
The ideal candidate will be an innovative, results-driven, and strategic individual with a deep understanding of education recruitment practices, a passion for diversity and inclusion, and the ability to effectively engage candidates across various platforms. The Recruitment Specialist will also analyze recruitment data, identify trends, and make recommendations to continuously enhance the district’s hiring practices.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Design and execute a comprehensive annual recruitment strategy that attracts highly qualified candidates for teaching and non-teaching positions.
+ Manage external job boards, social media platforms, and local/community outreach channels. Utilize diverse sourcing methods to attract a wide range of candidates.
+ Build partnerships with community organizations, universities, and job fairs.
+ Collaborate with external partners to develop a pipeline for the future.
+ Partner with school principals and department heads to identify staffing needs
+ Track recruitment metrics such as candidate source effectiveness and diversity statistics. Provide regular reports to the Director of Staffing and Recruitment on recruitment progress and trends.
+ Direct outreach efforts for high-priority roles, including principals and assistant principals, to ensure top-tier leadership candidates are identified.
+ Screen resumes, conduct initial phone interviews, and coordinate in-depth interviews between candidates and school leaders. Ensure candidates meet job qualifications and align with the district's goals and culture.
+ Represent the district at job fairs, university recruitment events, and local community meetings to build strong relationships with potential candidates. Attend industry events and maintain a network of educational professionals.
+ Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, including providing timely feedback, guidance, and communication from application to hiring.
+ Stay informed on recruitment technologies and best practices to improve the hiring process.
Qualifications - Required
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in recruitment
+ Strong understanding of public education systems, teaching standards, and staff requirements
+ Proven experience developing and executing effective recruitment strategies
+ Strong knowledge of local community resources and networks for educational professionals
+ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
+ Flexibility on evenings and weekends for recruitment events and job fairs
+ Ability to travel to various schools and community events within the city of Boston and surrounding areas
+ Fluency in Microsoft Suite, Google Docs, social media outlets, and other technology-based systems
Qualifications - Preferred:
+ Fluency in one or more of BPS’ official languages (Arabic, Chinese – Cantonese or Mandarin, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese)
+ Experience in urban education or large-scale recruitment
