Title:** **Histologist

+ **Facility:** **St. Joseph's Hospital**

+ **Location:** Tampa, FL

+ **Status:** Full time, Exempt: No

+ **Shift Hours:** 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, (days of the week vary)

+ **Weekend Work:** Occasional

+ **On Call:** No

Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for all phases of tissue processing from fixation to final slide including special stains and techniques

+ Maintains all files, records, and documentation required by state and federal licensing boards

+ Cleans and maintains equipment and instruments

+ Stocks and maintains supplies

+ Must possess interpersonal and customer service skills

+ Demonstrates organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills

+ Works both independently and with a team

+ Possess computer skills appropriate to position

+ Uses and understands medical terminology

+ Performs other duties as assigned

Certification & Licensure:

+ Required – Histology

+ Preferred – ASCP

Education:

+ Required – High School of Equivalent

+ Preferred – Technical Degree in Histotechnology

+ Preferred – Associates in Related Field

Experience:

+ Preferred – 1 Year Laboratory Related
