The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates with an interest in classical or non-malignant hematology for an Open Rank, Open Track faculty position. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.
The UVA Classical Hematology Program is a dedicated team of physicians with expertise in a wide range of benign hematologic conditions, including disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis, anemias, platelet disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and other rare hematologic diseases. While the position is primarily centered on non-malignant hematology, there is flexibility to include a component of malignant hematology tailored to the candidate’s clinical interests and experience.
The successful candidate will be a key clinical member of our team, providing care to adult patients in both the outpatient and inpatient consult setting. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to contribute to the division’s academic mission through clinical and/or translational research, and to actively participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers.

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent degree and be board certified/eligible in Hematology. Board certification in Internal Medicine is encouraged. Rank and compensation are contingent upon qualifications and expertise.
Interested individuals should have a strong interest in an academic medicine career as demonstrated by experience with research and/or medical education. Strong clinical skills in classical (non-malignant) hematology are required and interest in clinical investigation and/or translational collaborations is encouraged.
