    Job Summary:

    + Lead, guide and direct department’s employees to include setting targets, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development

    + Responsible for all hiring, training and terminations; assuring all paperwork is processed according to proper Company guidelines with appropriate levels of follow up with management on timely task completion.

    + Assist in managing activities of Safety Department personnel.

    + Develop and deliver strategies. Implement, analyze and monitor to ensure expenses, budgets, and internal/external obligations with Estes’ business partners are met

    + Accountable for assuring compliance with FMCSA, EPA, and OSHA regulations

    + Provide research, analyses, reporting and solution implementations for continuous improvements and share with key stakeholders as appropriate

    + Resolve issues escalated internally and externally with Estes business partners to ensure timely resolution; maintenance and enhancement of positive working relationships

    + Stay current regarding risk management, safety, recruiting, training, environmental, etc.

    + Negotiate insurance and safety related contracts, monitor and manage service level agreements

    + Drive operational excellence and best practices with training programs, risk analysis, etc.

    + Manage and optimize risk management and safety initiatives to ensure profitability

    + Develop programs, products and solutions that maintain and enhance customer partnerships

    + Work with external industry groups such as the American Trucking Association

    + Regular attendance is required.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background; MBA preferred

    + 8 or more years leadership experience required

    + Detailed knowledge of trucking industry, risk management and environmental issues required

    + Minimum of 3 years LTL or transportation experience required

    + Knowledge of FMCSA, OSHA and safety regulations required

    + Ability to network at all levels internally and externally to Estes

    + Strong analytical, financial and budget skills

    + Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills

    + Strong influencing skills at senior levels to influence acceptance of new solutions or a new way of working

    + Experienced and proficient in Microsoft office required

    + Must be self- directed with strong analytical and problem solving skills

    + Must possess a strong work ethic with flexibility in work schedule

    + Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50%

    + Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job

    + Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct

    + Must be able to interact well with others

    + Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting

    + Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities

    + Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines

    + Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check

    + Must be authorized to work in the United States
