General Summary:
Direct responsibility for overall management, including budget, facilities, equipment, personnel (one Assistant Director and two coordinators), and programming for the Department of Recreational Sports. Assists in the overall management of Recreational Sports, its facilities, and programs. Oversees all sports and wellness programs for students. Recruitment of students to participate in club sports. Some nights and weekend work are required.
Responsibilities:
+ Recruitment, supervision of staff and directs staff training/orientation for the student employees and professional staff of all Recreational Sports programs.
+ Meets with Division Staff on a periodic basis, reporting on all areas of assigned responsibility.
+ Cooperates with other University departments and units, participates in committees as assigned, and participates in professional organizations.
+ Conducts periodic evaluations of operations, personnel, use of resources, and programs.
+ Prepares and administers the budgets for the Recreational Sports Department and insures compliance with University rules and procedures.
+ Develops goals and objectives on a yearly basis and develops procedures and programs to meet those goals and objectives.
+ Conducts periodic evaluations of operations, personnel, use of resources, and programs.
+ Surveys the students on all programs.
+ This position requires a flexible work schedule, which at times will require attendance during evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
+ Additional hours may be required during peak periods

Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Eight (8) years of related experience.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
+ Must be able to obtain a State of Texas vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment.
+ Must qualify to operate a vehicle within the TAMUS guidelines.
+ First Aid and CPR or within 30 days of employment.
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree.
+ Ten (10) years of experience related to the management/operation of intramurals or sport clubs in a university setting.
+ NIRSA, Lifeguard Certification.
+ Innosoft Fusion Software knowledge.
+ Strong program development in campus recreation.
+ Recruitment of students to participate in club sports or related field.
+ Understands the processes of the University.
