Job Description:
CDM Smith is currently seeking a Licensed Site Professional (LSP) in the Boston, MA office to support a wide variety of environmental projects. The preferred candidate will have experience working at solid waste facilities, Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP), Superfund, and other contaminated sites, managing contaminated soil and disposal, running field programs, preparing planning documents and preparing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan as well as knowledge of federal regulations. The preferred candidate will need to understand the Massachusetts Contingency Plan and MassDEP regulations and policies, the New England environmental market, and be willing to assist with marketing efforts.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
• Performing work involving conventional and straightforward plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.
• Supervising surface and subsurface soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field data collection to support environmental, investigation, remediation, and general construction projects.
• Performing engineering design for environmental, civil, and water resource projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans.
• Preparing and reviewing draft assessments and calculations, designs, and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Travel to project sites to supervise site investigation and remediation activities, pre-construction meetings, site inspections, and construction oversight.
• Work on a variety of assignments, which may include, field studies, research investigations, multi-media sample collection and management, construction oversight, data interpretation and evaluation, and report preparation.
• Ensuring that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments. Independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Using professional judgment and knowledge of scientific and engineering principles and techniques in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers, junior staff, clients, and vendors to develop scopes of work, written proposals, and final deliverables.
• Managing field and peer staff, subcontractors, client representatives, and other stakeholders to develop and meet project schedules and milestones, manage project financial performance, and bring projects to successful completion.
• Helping in supervising or coordinating the work of drafters, technicians, and others assisting in specific assignments.
• Learning project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system.
• Managing tasks on large projects or phases of small projects.
• Developing external client interaction and marketing skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and/or Connecticut Professional Engineer (PE). If not a PE in Massachusetts, on track to get reciprocity in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.
• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline. Registration as a licensed Professional Geologist, as certified by ASBOG, within the resident state, if available, or a surrounding state, if not, is required for geologist positions.
• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• The ideal candidate will have experience with task management and project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Possesses in-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a desire to advance their career as a project manager.
• Work requires verbal skills, ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors
• This position is best suited for an individual that is excited to develop experience across a range of managerial and technical skills. Experience with supervision and mentoring of junior engineers and in construction management.

Skills and Abilities:
• Experience and demonstrated ability to lead field programs at contaminated sites.
• Experience working with commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors, third-parties, and directing junior staff for field programs at contaminated sites.
• Proven experience in data evaluation and report preparation for environmental assessment, conceptual site model development, remediation, field investigations, and/or construction oversight activities.
• Experience with Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) regulations, permitting, Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulations, Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste regulations; EPA CERCLA, RCRA, and TSCA PCB regulations.

Additional Compensation:
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
