    Amazon is building the next generation software, hardware, and processes that will run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promise. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, autonomy, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems.

     

    The Tech Transformation (TfX) group within the Global Robotics Delivery organization technically advises and leads innovative solutions that ensure deployment capabilities to deliver consistent year over year resource efficiency. We are seeking a Systems Development Engineer to contribute to the design, build, and maintenance of a cloud platform that streamlines the manipulation of large-scale point cloud data, as well as develop components and tooling (software and/or hardware) to automate robotic deployment and Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes. You will work on system components, learn and apply best practices that enable a quality product, and may mentor interns while developing your technical skills in a collaborative team environment.

    Key job responsibilities:

    • Contribute to building and maintaining a cloud solution for storing and processing large-scale point cloud datasets (1TB+)

    • Take ownership of defining requirements, creating solution designs based on defined requirements, implementing code to specifications, and supporting solutions

    • Create maintainable, high-quality software that is built and deployed through continuous delivery

    • Demonstrate the ability to identify risks and mitigation and make technical trade-offs in your designs and your team’s designs

    • Ability to cope with ambiguity and work autonomously or with a team to deliver successful solutions

    • Ability to travel domestically up to 25%

    Basic Qualifications

    - Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure

     

    - Familiarity with monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar) through coursework, personal projects, or professional experience

     

    - Experience or strong interest in Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, or similar tools)

     

    - 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience OR equivalent project experience through internships, co-ops, or significant personal/academic projects

     

    - 1+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, or similar

     

    - Exposure to system design concepts including design patterns, reliability, and scaling through coursework, projects, or entry-level professional experience

     

    - BS in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent

     

    - Excellent written and oral communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

     

    - Contributor or maintainer of an open-source project

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
