Description We are looking for an organized and meticulous Accounting Clerk to join our team in Elmhurst, Illinois. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in supporting the accounting department by handling a variety of administrative and financial tasks. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization while expanding your expertise.

Responsibilities:

• Answer incoming calls in a courteous and friendly manner, ensuring inquiries are directed to the appropriate department or individual.

• Take clear and accurate messages and forward them promptly when the intended recipient is unavailable.

• Respond to public inquiries regarding city services, events, and facilities, providing clear and helpful information.

• Perform clerical duties such as scanning, filing, typing, and data entry with attention to detail.

• Interpret and explain policies and procedures to customers and the general public, ensuring clarity and understanding.

• Process financial transactions including accounts payable, utility payments, parking tickets, journal entries, and cleared checks.

• Provide in-person customer service at the finance counter, handling payments, answering questions, and processing various forms and transactions.

• Balance and maintain a cash drawer with accuracy and efficiency.

• Process vehicle license payments and other financial transactions as needed. Requirements

• Proficiency in handling accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

• Strong experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.

• Exceptional data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.

• Ability to process invoices efficiently and accurately.

• Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members professionally.

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

• Prior experience in a similar accounting or clerical role is highly preferred.
