Key Responsibilities
+ Verify insurance eligibility for patients by contacting providers or utilizing online tools and portals.
+ Confirm patient benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and coverage requirements for medical services and procedures.
+ Coordinate pre-authorizations and referrals for treatments as required by insurance plans.
+ Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain accurate documentation of insurance verifications in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
+ Communicate coverage details, insurance barriers, and necessary follow-up steps to patients and medical staff.
+ Respond to inquiries about insurance coverage or pre-authorization requirements in a timely and professional manner.
+ Work collaboratively with billing, scheduling, and other administrative teams to streamline patient care processes.
Requirements
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
+ Previous experience in insurance verification or a similar role in healthcare administration is highly preferred.
+ Strong understanding of medical insurance policies, benefits, and terminology.
+ Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Cerner, Epic, or similar platforms.
+ Skilled in communication and customer service, with the ability to address patient concerns empathetically.
+ Highly organized and detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in insurance verification processes.
+ Able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
+ High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications such as Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or experience in medical billing are a plus.
