Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team in Iron Mountain, MI. In this role, you will focus on accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions while maintaining effective communication with vendors and internal teams. This is a long-term contract opportunity where you will contribute to key accounting functions, including month-end close activities and special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Process supplier invoices using ERP software to ensure timely and accurate payments.

• Maintain and organize electronic filing systems for financial records.

• Match invoices with receiving documents to ensure compliance with three-way matching standards.

• Resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders and receiving documents by collaborating with relevant departments.

• Secure necessary approvals for services or non-PO payments and assign appropriate account codes.

• Reconcile vendor statements and verify account balances regularly.

• Respond to vendor inquiries promptly, escalating issues as needed.

• Collaborate with Purchasing and Receiving teams to address accounts payable matters.

• Support weekly accounts payable processes and contribute to audits and special projects.

• Assist with month-end close activities and project cost reporting as assigned.

Requirements • Associate’s degree in accounting is preferred.

• Minimum of two years of office experience, with at least one year in accounting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

• Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with SyteLine is a plus.

• Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with vendors and team members.

• Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
