Key Responsibilities
+ Schedule surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and related appointments efficiently while coordinating with patients, physicians, specialists, and hospitals.
+ Collect and verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history required for surgery scheduling.
+ Communicate pre-surgical instructions to patients, ensuring they are well-prepared for procedures.
+ Collaborate with surgical teams and healthcare providers to confirm availability, equipment, and room setup.
+ Work with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorizations or referrals and ensure medical necessity compliance.
+ Track and monitor surgical schedules, resolving conflicts or rescheduling as needed and keeping all parties informed.
+ Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Cerner, Epic, or other platforms.
Requirements
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
+ Prior experience as a surgery scheduler, medical scheduler, or healthcare administrative professional is highly preferred.
+ Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (such as Cerner, Epic, or similar systems) is a strong advantage.
+ Strong knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple schedules simultaneously.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate between patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
+ High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications such as Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or related credentials are a plus.
