    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (New Orleans, LA)


    Description

    We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to manage payroll operations across multiple U.S. states. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a diverse and growing workforce. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal and multi-state payroll regulations, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for process improvement.

    sKey Responsibilities:

    + Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

    + Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing training and performance feedback.

    + Maintain and update payroll systems, including timekeeping and HRIS integrations.

    + Ensure accurate calculation and distribution of wages, benefits, bonuses, and deductions.

    + Oversee payroll tax filings and coordinate with external vendors or tax agencies as needed.

    + Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.

    + Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on employee onboarding, offboarding, and compensation changes.

    + Stay current on changes in payroll laws and regulations, especially those affecting Louisiana and other relevant states.

    + Prepare payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.

    + Lead or support payroll-related projects, including system upgrades and process automation.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.

    + Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years managing multi-state payroll.

    + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

    + Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, UKG) and Microsoft Excel.

    + Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax regulations.

    + Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

    + Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.

    Preferred Experience:

    + Experience with payroll in Louisiana and neighboring states (e.g., Texas, Mississippi).

    + Familiarity with union payroll or government contracts is a plus.

    + Experience working in a mid-to-large size organization or a company with remote employees.
