Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and meticulous Senior Public Tax Accountant to join our team in Nassau County, New York. In this part-time contract position, you will play a critical role in managing tax compliance, conducting research, and offering advisory services to clients. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on diverse tax matters while collaborating with a dynamic team of experts.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including individual, corporate, and partnership filings.

• Conduct in-depth tax research to ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.

• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize client financial outcomes.

• Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation and provide clear guidance on tax matters.

• Address and resolve federal and state tax notices or inquiries on behalf of clients.

• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all client interactions.

• Work closely with partners and managers to handle complex tax issues and special projects.

• Mentor and support entry-level staff in their growth and development.

• Utilize advanced tax software and tools to streamline tax preparation and reporting processes.

• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to provide proactive advice to clients.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; a Master’s in Taxation or CPA certification is preferred.

• Minimum of 2–5 years of recent experience in public accounting with a focus on tax compliance.

• Strong understanding of federal and state tax codes and regulations.

• Proficiency in tax software such as ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, or similar platforms, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.

• Proven capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

• CPA certification or eligibility is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and client portals is a plus.
