    Job Description

    Primary Purpose:

    The Manager - Safety Analytics will implement advanced safety analytics capabilities to enhance the organization’s safety performance through data-driven insights. This role is responsible for creating new safety intelligence dashboards, enhancing existing dashboards, refining safety analytics, and improving data integration across safety management systems. The Manager will implement safety dashboards by aligning lagging safety data (accidents, injuries, incidents) with leading indicators (safety actions, training, program management) to improve safety outcomes and operational efficiency. This role will be responsible to produce high-quality actionable insights to reduce risks and related costs.

    Principal Duties:

    • Design and implement Power BI Safety Intelligence Dashboards that integrate lagging safety data with leading indicators, aligning safety efforts with outcomes, and providing actionable insights to drive safety performance improvements.

    • Creation of new data granularity to improve root cause analysis for accidents and injuries, enhancing incident analysis and safety program effectiveness.

    • Development of customized safety dashboards that allow different operational departments to track safety objectives, performance, and compliance.

    • Safety data support to departmental senior leaders and preparing safety metrics presentation slides for senior leader meetings with the NS board.

    • Integration of PowerBI as the primary tool for safety reporting and analytics, ensuring data systems are connected and providing accurate, timely insights.

    • Collaboration with IT for database, Power BI, data script and safety project support.

    • Provide regular, data-driven recommendations on improving safety performance and reducing associated costs (damage, claims, lost time, productivity, etc.).

    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by developing peers in safety analytics and providing Power BI training, ensuring strong performance and growth.

    • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and safety teams to align data efforts with broader organizational goals.

    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in safety data analytics, ensuring the organization’s safety analytics remains competitive and effective.

    • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, ethical practices, and data integrity throughout safety analytics processes.

    Job-Related Experience:

    • Minimum Level: 5-8 years of experience in safety, analytics, operations, IT, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a data analytics role or related leadership position.

    • Preferred Level: 8+ years of experience in safety, analytics, operations, IT, or related fields, with deep expertise in data management, root cause analysis, and leading project initiatives.

    Education:

    Preferred Level:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Safety Management, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science or Operations Management.

    Skills and Abilities

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Power BI or similar data visualization tools for developing reports and dashboards.

    • Strong understanding of DAX for data modeling and calculations, including creating and managing measures using DAX.

    • Proficient in SQL for data manipulation and extraction. Familiarity with tools like DBeaver, etc.

    • MS Excel (Advanced proficiency in Spreadsheets and Data Analysis)

    • MS PowerPoint (Presentation creation and delivery)

    • Experience in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, etc.

    • Experience with platforms like TDV and Databricks.

    • Familiarity with emerging technologies, such as machine learning and predictive data analytics.
