**Pay Range:** $93,925.00- $150,037.00
SUMMARY
The Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) is responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of all food safety and quality programs within the commissary operation. This leader ensures regulatory compliance with USDA, FDA, and local authorities while developing and managing robust systems for HACCP, preventive controls, sanitation, allergen control, and product quality. The FSQA Manager will guide cross-functional teams in fostering a culture of food safety, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in alignment with corporate standards and customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Lead the FSQA function to ensure all products meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards across the commissary operation.
+ Own the implementation, execution, and maintenance of HACCP, Preventive Controls (FSMA), GMPs, SSOPs, allergen controls, traceability, and sanitation systems.
+ Partner with production, maintenance, engineering, and procurement teams to design and maintain processes that prevent food safety and quality failures.
+ Conduct regular facility inspections, audits, and risk assessments to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
+ Drive audit readiness at all times; lead USDA, FDA, third-party, and customer audits with professionalism and transparency.
+ Oversee root cause investigations for food safety/quality deviations; lead CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) development and implementation.
+ Champion training programs for all levels of staff on food safety and quality topics; ensure documentation and knowledge retention.
+ Maintain accurate and timely records for all compliance and verification programs; manage internal audits and document reviews.
+ Utilize data analytics to identify trends, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement in FSQA metrics.
+ Supervise pest control, sanitation programs, and environmental monitoring with emphasis on risk-based validation and verification.
+ Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices; assess impact and implement changes as needed.
+ Develop and manage FSQA budget, including procurement of testing, sanitation, and training resources.
+ Serve as a key voice in cross-functional strategic planning and new product development to ensure food safety and quality are embedded from concept to execution.
+ Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance teams to resolve food safety issues and improve processes.
+ May represent the commissary in corporate food safety forums or task forces.
+ Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Expert knowledge of USDA, FDA, FSMA, and GFSI scheme standards.
+ Strong leadership presence with ability to train, coach, and influence at all organizational levels.
+ Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic FSQA initiatives.
+ Experience with food safety/quality management systems and data analysis platforms.
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
+ 5–7 years of progressive experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance in a manufacturing or food production environment.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
+ HACCP and PCQI certifications required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
+ In-depth knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations, food safety audits, and sanitation standards.
+ SQF or BRC certification experience strongly preferred.
+ Food Safety Certification with passing the accredited NRFSP exam
+ CP-FS certification through National Environmental Health Association

+ Personal Computer and FSQA Management Software (e.g., SafetyChain, TraceGains)
+ Food Safety Testing Equipment (ATP, allergen swabs, pH meters, etc.)
+ Thermometers, calibration tools, and sanitation equipment
+ Personal protective equipment where and when required
