Position Summary
RSI is recruiting for anEnvironmental Field Specialistwhois responsible for field implementation of scope involving various inspections and natural resource management. This involves operation of equipment for groundskeeping and vegetation management, roads maintenance, maintenance and repair of public amenities and institutional controls (fences, signs, etc.). The Environmental Field Specialist will also support groundwater, surface water, and groundwater treatment system monitoring and sampling operations, and associated maintenance.

**Hiring Range:** $28.36 - $30.26per hour.($59,987.20 to $62,940.80 annually)(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 0-5% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Support Senior Rocky Flats Site (RFS) Ecologist and RFS Operations with natural resource management work. This includes providing leadership on annual Rocky Flats Legacy Management Agreement (RFLMA) Inspections including landfill inspections, weather related inspections, and Best Management Practice (BMP) inspections, writing inspection reports, and updating operations sections of quarterly and annual reports.
+ Support groundwater monitoring and sampling operations, surface water monitoring and sampling operations, groundwater treatment systems, and associated maintenance.
+ Conduct minor repairs as necessary using hand tools to site institutional controls, i.e. fencing, gates, signs, landfill berms, and erosion controls.
+ Manage Records in accordance with Information Management requirements.
+ Update Monitoring and Maintenance (M&M) reports with landfill inspection data.
+ Keep current with all required training.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in science or related field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
+ No minimum years of relevant experience required.
+ 2 years of experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
+ Valid Driver’s License.
+ No professional certifications required.
Required Skills and Abilities
+ Ability to learn and provide technical expertise and experience using site equipment for groundskeeping and natural resource management. Includes herbicide application as needed.
+ Ability to learn and understand operation, maintenance, and repair of site equipment.
+ Ability to learn and perform repairs on site institutional controls (i.e., fencing, gates, signs).
+ Ability to learn and utilize all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), utility task vehicles (UTVs), farm tractor, deck mower, and tool cat, as needed.
+ At the Rocky Flats site, conduct snow removal as needed.
+ Efficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
+ Ability to self-direct work and take lead on projects as requested.
+ Ability to support project implementation via RFS Integrated Work Control Process (IWCP) system and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS).

Essential Physical Requirements
Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
