Do you enjoy staying active and getting things done first thing in the morning? Iowa State University Dining is looking for a Storekeeper II to join our team! Serving over 8,000 meals a day across 26 locations, ISU Dining is more than just a meal service – it's a close-knit team where people take pride in creating a welcoming, supportive environment that feels like a second home for not only students, but staff, too!
This is a hands-on role where you’ll stay active and engaged from the start of your shift. Despite the title, this isn't about keeping a store - it's about supporting dining facility operations to keep things flowing on the backend. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated and hard-working team and contribute to a fast-paced, structured environment that values your organizational skills and time management.
Hours: Monday - Friday (or as needed per business needs) , 5:00 am - 1:30 pm
What You’ll Do
+ Storeroom OperationsTake charge of daily operations in an always-moving warehouse-style environment within a campus dining facility. Maintain flow, structure, and organization throughout the space.
+ Delivery & Inventory ManagementReceive and organize early morning food and supply deliveries. Monitor inventory, rotate stock, and ensure all items are accurately stored and well-maintained. Order fulfillment to distribute across campus.
+ Cold Storage OversightOversee coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas to maintain safe and efficient food storage conditions.
+ Kitchen Collaboration
Work closely with kitchen staff and students to coordinate supply needs, prep flow, and ensure operations run smoothly from delivery to service.
+ Operational TasksThis role involves hands-on work with deliveries and storage, including tasks that may require lifting, moving, driving or organizing supplies across multiple areas.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
+ Receives, stores, and issues equipment, materials, supplies, foodstuffs, etc., according to established methods.
+ Stores special stock items requiring treatment, which may deviate from established storekeeping methods in assigning space and identification.
+ Issue items that require knowledge of specific areas of supply operation and good knowledge of stock characterized by susceptibility to spontaneous combustion, toxicity, fragility, rapid deterioration, contamination, and ease of physical damage.
+ Performs tasks independently in connection with checking and tallying special or technical items of supply.
+ Verifies stock against shipping authorizations for agreement as to quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions, and conformance to purchase orders.
+ Searches manufacturers’ catalogs, technical bulletins, nomenclature lists, etc., to identify special items; seeks advice of operating personnel to ensure compliance with purchase orders for unusual orders.
+ Applies storekeeping procedures and methods in arranging space, conducting inventory, estimating needs, and maintaining and preparing records and reports as directed.
+ Makes minor adjustments or repairs to items carried in stock.
+ Drives, loads, and unloads a delivery truck periodically.
+ Assist faculty and staff in setting up and operating equipment for lectures, regular laboratory work, or special demonstrations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures.
+ Knowledge of the characteristics, uses, and proper handling/storage techniques of items supplied.
+ Knowledge of proper lifting and bending techniques.
+ Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
+ Ability to prepare and maintain stock records, reports, and inventories.
+ Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and constituents.
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Ability to provide functional supervision.
+ Ability to work with a computerized inventory control system.
