    The Department of Economics invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer for Academic Year 2026-27. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate, liberal arts education. Ph.D. in Economics or related field required.

     

    We are seeking to hire a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with substantial experience teaching a range of undergraduate economics courses, including principles, intermediate theory, and a variety of electives both at the intermediate and advanced levels. While we welcome applications from candidates at different career stages, the initial appointment may be made at the Senior Lecturer level, depending on qualifications and teaching experience.

     

    Teaching experience outside the University of Vermont may be considered in evaluating eligibility for appointment or promotion at the Senior Lecturer level, alongside demonstrated teaching effectiveness at UVM .The appointment is renewable.

The Economics curriculum includes courses that help students develop analytic skills necessary to understand and examine issues related to economic growth and development, unemployment, the relationship between the environment and the economy, international trade, technological change, government regulations, taxation, monetary policy, the role of institutions in economic systems, the role of race and gender in the economy, discrimination, poverty and inequality, and the distribution of income. UVM Economics department graduates have an impressive track record of success in graduate school placement and careers in government, marketing, sales, consulting, finance, and research.
