• Histology Assistant - part-time 20 hours

    *The ideal candidate will be a student at our school of Health Professions *

    *KEY FUNCTIONS *

    • Provide direct assistant to laboratory staff and pathologists in their preparation of diagnostic and/or research material.

    • Utilize laboratory informatics system to access patient information and to organize, label and track patient materials relevant to the histology laboratories.

    • Locate and deliver slides/blocks and corresponding information to pathologist, fellows and other departmental/divisional employees as needed.

    • Assist histology technicians with procurement and processing of specimens and preparation of slides.

    • Prepares solutions and maintain laboratory equipment. Maintain cleanliness of laboratories according to safety and regulatory guidelines.

    • Receive, unpack, store and date chemicals and supplies. Performs all duties following established safety guidelines

    • Other duties as required

     

    High school diploma or equivalent and current enrollment in the Histotechnology program within the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
