Job Description:
The School of Public Health is seeking to hire a part-time seasonal Research Assistant (RA) to join our interdisciplinary team working on projects related to post-acute and long-term care. The primary function of this position is to provide assistance with research studies and preparation of materials and documentation. The RA will work with the research team in reviewing quantitative data analysis for research focused on health economics, nursing home workforce, and health policy. The RA will play a key role in analyzing large datasets, interpreting results, and contributing to the development of manuscripts and presentations. This position also involves coordinating project activities, preparing research materials for publication, and assisting in the overall management of research tasks.
The RA will have the opportunity to work closely with leading researchers in the field of post-acute and long-term care, contributing to studies that aim to inform health policy and improve care delivery. This role offers hands-on experience in data analysis, manuscript writing, and project coordination, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to advance their skills in health services research. The preferred successful candidate will be familiar with quantitative methods and demonstrate a keen interest in health policy and long-term care systems. This will assist in the literature review.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in health economics and econometrics and health policy with prior related experience or extensive coursework or equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Competencies
• Familiar with data related to research to assist the research review of the analysis of Medicare claims data, Payroll Based Journal Daily Nurse Staffing, and National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS).
• Interest in health services research and patient outcomes.
• Background in health economics or health policy, particularly regarding Medicare and payment reforms.
• Previous coursework or research experience in public health, economics, or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills through both writing and speech.
