    The successful candidate will serve as the Response and Remediation Program (RRP) Manager and will be responsible for managing a group of approximately 40 technical professionals in the area of environmental protection. The RRP is responsible for investigating, assessing, and remediating contaminated sites under state statutes including the Hazardous Sites Response Act, the Georgia Brownfield Act, and the Voluntary Remediation Program Act, maintaining a Hazardous Site Inventory, administering the Hazardous Waste Trust Fund, and encouraging the redevelopment of sites through the Georgia Brownfields Program. Responsibilities include assisting in the development of policies and procedures; managing teams of geologists, engineers, and database experts; understanding and communicating regulatory and legal frameworks; managing workflow; engaging internal and external stakeholders; and providing oversight of technical work.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Managerial experience in a regulatory environment.

     

    Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations (RCRA, HSRA, CERCLA, VRPA, Brownfield Act).

     

    Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work products and meet required deadlines.

     

    Demonstrated ability to identify and implement needed organizational or functional improvements.

    Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection or environmental research, which includes two (2) years in a managerial role; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 1, Env Protection (RCM010) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
