DESCRIPTION: Responsible for developing and teaching courses in the Cosmetology program.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives
• Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
• Requests and maintains supplies and equipment
• Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate
• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area
• Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
• Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts
• Other duties as assigned

Driver’s License Requirement: Valid GA Driver License
Physical Demands
• Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time.
• The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight.
• Dexterity and a full range of hand/finger motion are required.
• The exposure to chemicals and fumes is possible in the laboratory setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Diploma in Cosmetology or comparable industry training
• Current Georgia Master Cosmetologist license
• Three (3) years’ work experience within the past seven years OR current Georgia Master Cosmetology teaching license
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to minimum qualifications)
• Associate Degree in Management or closely related
