    Simon Maverick, a division of Simon & Schuster, is looking for a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager to join our imprint which is dedicated to publishing books from independent and self-published authors. Our goal is to introduce both new and established voices on the independent scene to our rapidly-growing list, merging the entrepreneurial spirit of these writers with the unsurpassed resources and distribution of Simon & Schuster. We are looking for a someone who has an entrepreneurial “start up” mentality, eager to get in on the ground floor of an exciting new and expanding imprint with the goal of merging the best of traditional publishing with the ever-changing literary marketplace.

     

    **This individual will play a pivotal role in marketing and promotional strategy for both audiobook and print formats.** You will report to the Editorial Director and collaborate closely with editorial, production, and sales teams to oversee the Maverick publishing pipeline across all formats, and ensure the successful lifecycle of each title, from acquisition to publication and beyond. This role requires a publishing professional who is detail-oriented, fastidious in nature, creative and eager to find outside-the-box ways to promote our books but also comfortable using data analysis, all with an eye on making sure our books are best positioned for maximum success in the marketplace.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Marketing & Promotion:

    + Develop and execute marketing campaigns across digital, retail, social, and publicity channels. Collaborate with editorial, as well as with marketing and publicity teams across the company, to build and execute comprehensive preorder, launch, and post-launch plans.

    + Analyze campaign performance and audience data to inform future strategies and optimize ROI.

    + Support the creation of promotional assets including social media posts, ads, and other content.

    + Foster brand awareness and audience growth through partnerships and targeted outreach.

    + Ability to work directly with authors, agents, and proprietors to coordinate promotional schedules and opportunities.

    Publishing Operations:

    + Collaborate with the Editorial Director on developing and maintaining the imprint’s publishing strategy and schedule.

    + Coordinate with managing editorial and book production teams to ensure timely and high-quality releases, while working with editorial, authors, and agents to ensure materials are delivered to various departments on schedule.

    + Ensure metadata, descriptions, and other supporting materials are entered into our systems in a timely manner, and updated when applicable.

    Qualifications:

    + 5-7+ years of experience in book publishing with experience in print and digital marketing and promotion **(experience in audiobooks preferred but not necessary).**

    + Proven track record of successful marketing campaign management.

    + Strong understanding of the current literary marketplace. Knowledge of the independent or non-traditional literary scene is a plus.

    + Excellent organizational, communication, and management skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with ease.

    + Comfort with data analytics tools and dashboards to measure performance.

    The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable.
