DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
HighPoint professionals focus on helping government agencies and companies implement their most critically strategic initiatives. The role of Database Administrator contributes to HighPoint by working with a database team to refine the OCC’s data management strategy and improve the agency’s ability to derive actionable insights that will assist them in making strategic decisions for their database operations programs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Provide support for production and non-production (development, test and UAT) databases.
+ Maintain and support databases and provide data management operations to ensure the security, quality, performance and accessibility to applications.
+ Monitor and improve database performance and capacity.
+ Perform data recovery, and planning for future expansion and conversion.
+ Coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard organizational databases.
+ Implement and release of database changes, as submitted by the development team and general administrator support.
+ Responsible for various databases Relational Database Management Systems (Oracle, MSSQL and Windows Server)
+ Implement, maintain and document software packages as needed.
+ Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security.
+ Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.
+ Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users.
+ Update and create Erwin Diagrams as needed.
+ Create and test database build documentation.
+ Perform quality assurance activities against database code.
+ Support the database needs of various development application support teams.
+ Ensure the availability, performance and security of databases.
+ Optimize database resources by identifying potential resource bottlenecks and rectifying them.
+ Monitor database systems and proactively address issues as they arise.
+ Responsible for configuration management, performance tuning and administration of mission critical production databases.
+ Design and code database batch jobs.
+ Configuration, provisioning, upgrading and decommissioning databases.
+ Database tuning for optimization and performance.
+ Work with customers to verify and validate schemas and queries for performance and scalability.
+ Work with documentation team to ensure any issues effecting functionality are properly reflected in documentation.
+ After-hours support of production applications (if needed).
+ Handle change management operations.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
+ Significant knowledge of multiple Relational Database Management Systems (Oracle, MSSQL and Windows Server).
+ Experience with database installation, configuration and tuning.
+ Advanced technical understanding of client/server computer platforms and operating systems.
+ Excellent troubleshooting skills.
EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
+ One-year experience must be specialized experience in database administration and/or operations.
+ 5+ years of hands on experience administering/monitoring Enterprise Databases.
