JOB SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting the People Department and ensuring the smooth functioning of People operations. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including recruitment, employee relations, occupational health, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws and company policies. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of HR best practices, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Will work closely with the Department Managers to support the various functions based on individual needs.
COMPENSATION: $28.85/hr. - $31.25/hr. (depending on experience)

REPORTS TO: Director of People
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Occupational Health:
+ Assists employees and supervisors with matters related to FMLA, NYS Disability, and other leaves of absence, and health and safety compliance.
+ Supports the Occupational Health Department with day-to-day functions, including scheduling appointments, processing paperwork, and maintaining employee records and files.
+ Collaborates with employee wellness and benefits to ensure a holistic approach to managing overall employee well-being.
Employee Relations:
+ Serves as a point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution.
+ Promotes a positive and inclusive workplace culture and addresses any employee relations issues promptly.
+ Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Benefits Administration:
+ Supports employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
+ Supports employee well-being and engagement activities and events.
+ Assists employees with benefit inquiries, enrollment, and changes.
+ Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to employee benefits.
HR Compliance:
+ Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
+ Assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
+ Ensures accurate record-keeping and documentation related to HR activities.
HR Data and Reporting:
+ Maintains HR records and databases, including paper personnel files and electronic HCM.
+ Generates HR reports and analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
+ Ensures the confidentiality and security of HR data.
Training and Development:
+ Collaborates with managers to identify employee training and development needs.
+ Assists in the coordination of training programs and initiatives.
+ Supports the performance management process, including performance evaluations and goal setting.
+ Promotes a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
+ Supports succession planning.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
+ Assists with new employee orientation and supports various onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
HR Projects and Initiatives:
+ Assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
+ Participates in HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
+ Other Duties as Assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
+ At least 4 years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar role.
+ HRIS System familiarity (UKG experience a plus).
+ SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
+ Proven knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and support staff at all levels.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
+ Knowledge of HR laws and regulations including employment standards and labor laws.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
+ Proficiency in HR software and tools, including HCM systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of UKG/UltiPro a plus.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Analytical skills and mindset.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule following the successful completion of the probationary period.
