Role Overview
The primary function of a Laboratory Technician IV is to use and develop technical skills in themselves and others to support the development and maintenance of advanced chemical solutions for new construction, preservation, repair or renovation of structures. The employee will support scientists in designing experiments, coordinating lab resources and experimental activities, training junior technicians and promoting mastery of multiple related technologies within the department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
+ Business environment (market/external conditions/challenges the job faces on a regular basis):
1. The work environment is very technical, requiring equipment operations, trouble shooting, and problem solving
2. 70% Walking, Physical Testing, Lifting (up to 50 pounds)
3. 30% Data Collection, Data Communication
+ Level of Autonomy/Decision Making Responsibility:
1. The individual will be responsible to support R&D projects and customer support activities under the supervision of scientists and management. The duties can be very physical and challenging, priorities change daily, and therefore the individual must be flexible.
+ Internal and external relationships (other than supervisor, what other positions does this job interact with and why):
1. Participate in any internal and external collaborative studies and facilitate demonstrations when needed
+ Have expertise in testing methods, applications and troubleshooting of multiple technologies in construction chemicals.
+ Support scientists in designing experiments, coordinating lab resources and experimental activities and generating reports and memos within and outside departments
+ Collaborate with the team on projects, mentor entry-level personnel, and develop new test systems
+ Design and coordinate training within and/or outside organization and demonstrate customer focus
+ Maintain good attendance record and report to assigned job station in a timely manner.
+ Follow all appropriate Environmental Protection, Safety, Health (EHS) policies.
+ Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of Master Builders Solutions culture. Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to appropriate managers or directors.
+ Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities
Education and Experience
+ High school diploma with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in material testing within this or a related industry, _or_
+ Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field with at least 4 years’ experience in material testing within this or a related industry.
+ ACI Field Testing and Laboratory Testing Technician Certifications preferred
Skills and Knowledge
+ Knowledge of Master Builders Solutions’ products is a plus
+ Familiarity and hands-on experience with quality control (QC) test methods is highly valued.
+ Experience using a variety of testing equipment is preferred.
+ Ability to troubleshoot admixture-related challenges effectively is important for success in this role.
+ Highest level of honesty and integrity.

+ Strong organization, documentation, and prioritization skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.

+ Ability to work well with interdepartmental teams as well as independently.
Travel
Business travel as needed including overnight travel – less than 20%
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms during shifts; handle, or feel objects, manufacturing physical tools or controls; climb up and down stairs; balance; effective verbal communication; the ability to respond quickly to sounds and instructions.
