    Summary

    The Brooklyn Community Recovery Center works in service to an individual’s long-term recovery, and seeks to establish and maintain community relationships in furtherance of a community recovery vision (i.e. reduce stigma), and toward the mission and goals of the Recovery Community Outreach Center, and those of the agency-at-large. Our Art of Advocacy program is designed to enhance and target the Center’s engagement with the recovery community, to increase social capital, improve satisfaction with participant’s neighborhood and built environments, and enhance access to care. Our program uses multi-modal artist workshops that include, but are not limited to weaving, wheel and hand pottery, glass blowing, therapeutic horticulture, music, photography, murals, and painting, to engage participants in community building and wellness coaching. Working with other program staff, the administrative assistant supports the planning and execution of artist workshops, wellness coaching, and participation in ongoing artist collaboratives by liaising with artists, vendors, and partner organizations for proposals, contracts, and/or linkages; conduct outreach and enroll participants; and to support the management of logistics, data collection, and record keeping for the program.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

     

    • Liaise with partner organizations and programs to build and maintain relationships;

    • Support the planning, development, and execution of artist workshops and other program activities;

    • Maintain Linkage Agreements and/or Memoranda of Understanding to facilitate collaborative work with other organizations;

    • Provides guidance and support to participants to ensure an adequate recovery care environment exists;

    • Provide recovery and/or wellness coaching to participants;

    • Has knowledge of New York’s artistic communities and actively participates in connecting and being present in cultural spaces;

    • Work with onboarding independent contractors, tracking programming budget, and working with finance department;

    • Event planning, outreach, and logistical experience to co curate annual art exhibition;

    • Share administrative responsibilities with other program staff through ordering supplies, and coordinating staffing schedules and communications;

    • Lead data tracking efforts and conduct follow-up communications with program participants

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • High School Diploma

    PREFERRED EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s Degree in the arts or a human service related field

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

    • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or provisional (CRPA-P); Certified Recovery Coach (CRC) (a chosen candidate without such certification would be required to participate in the next available training offered by our Center at no cost)

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • 2 years of experience providing administrative assistance for human service delivery program(s)

    • Familiarity with regulations governing substance use disorder recovery support services

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • This job operates in both an indoor office and community-based environment, and outdoors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
