    Position: Assistant Esports Coach

     

    Status: Part Time, Seasonal, Exempt

     

    Department: Athletics

     

    Reports to: Head Esports Coach

     

    Salary: $3,000.00 annual salary

    College Background:

    Paul Smith’s College is a small, private baccalaureate and associate degree granting institution located on a 170-acre campus adjacent to Lower St. Regis Lake in the 6-million-acre Adirondack Park of northern New York State. The College is committed to providing all students with an outstanding undergraduate experience through engaged teaching, experiential learning, and personal attention. Paul Smith’s College seeks student athletes who will represent the college and their sport well, and who are as motivated to succeed in the classroom as they are in competition.

    Position Description:

    Under the general supervision of the Head Esports Coach, the Assistant Esports Coach will assist the Head Coach with the duties of developing and managing a successful Esports program at Paul Smith’s College.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Provide effective supervision of Esports student-athletes in the practice areas, competition, and life management, including travel.

    + Develops an organized program of training and practices to ensure success in intercollegiate Esports competition.

    + Manage games and live streams with competing schools.

    + Represents the department at campus and community events.

    + Assists with the Department’s strategic initiatives and special projects.

    + Helps promote College athletics and facilities throughout the community.

    + Works effectively with officials, the athletic trainer, and visiting team coaches.

    + Serves as a role model for student athletes.

    Qualifications and Preferences:

    + Bachelor’s Degree required; Two years’ experience in Esports or related field preferred.

    + Previous experience supporting computer hardware and software.

    + Two years as a high school or college Esports coach; comparable experience may be considered.

    + Strong communication, interpersonal and technology skills.

    + Effective both as a leader and as a collaborator.

    + Record of teaching and modeling character, values, and responsibility.

    + Flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and travel as required.

    + Possess or is willing to complete CPR and First Aid certification.

    + Driver’s license and driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.

    + Employment may be subject to a background check.

    + Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community.
