CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Mechatronics Engineer.

**Location:** Hickory, NC (hybrid remote)
_Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hickory, NC_
**Pay Rate:** $72.77 - $76.41 per hour
**Work Hours:** M-F 8am-5pm, some weekends may be required to support project installations.
**Education:** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with a focus on automation and control systems engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ industry experience.
Description
The Mechatronics Engineer will contribute to the development, design, and integration of advanced automation systems into manufacturing processes. This role involves the design, development, and delivery of precision automation solutions to meet stringent performance and reliability criteria. The candidate will leverage their expertise in mechanical/electrical engineering, control systems, instrumentation, motion systems and robotics, programming, and system integration to drive innovation and continuous improvement, while ensuring safety and industry standards compliance. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders are essential for success in this role.
Requirements
• Design, develop, and implement mechatronic systems and solutions to improve automation and manufacturing processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand automation requirements and engage in project planning
• Develop control algorithms and software for automation systems, including PLC programming and HMI design
• Integrate actuators, sensors, control systems, and industrial robotics into automation equipment
• Conduct data analysis, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance
• Model systems using engineering principles, simulations, and software tools to validate and optimize performance
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel
• Prepare and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline focused on automation and control systems
• Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience
Qualifications
• Proficiency in designing and implementing mechatronic systems
• Experience with automation control technologies (PLC, HMI, SCADA)
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
• Strong understanding of feedback control systems and PID controllers
• Knowledge of sensor integration and data acquisition systems
• Understanding of manufacturing electrical systems
• Experience with vision systems and image processing
• Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller programming
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in interdisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of industry standards and safety protocols
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Desired Skills
• Proficiency in simulation/modeling tools (Simulink, LabVIEW)
• Experience with industrial robotics and robotic control algorithms
• Programming languages: C, C++, Python, MATLAB
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0, machine learning, AI in automation
• Strong project management and multitasking abilities
• Advanced control strategies (adaptive, robust, nonlinear control)
• CAD proficiency for mechanical component/system design
Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
• Skilled in preparing presentations and technical reports
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and vendor management
• Collaborative mindset and effective teamwork across multidisciplinary teams
Travel Requirements
This is a hybrid assignment. Most work can be completed remotely, but candidate must travel to the plant and vendor sites as needed. Travel may range from one day to one week at a time.
