Architecture & Facilities Engineering (A&FE) is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development and sustainment of projects we support throughout the Disneyland Resort. Our department supports a wide range of facilities related projects that extend into attractions, overall maintenance, food and beverage, merchandise, and overall entertainment. From minor renovations up to new facilities and frequent support to immediate response efforts with reactionary projects.
This position requires to be the technical Owner’s Representative in mechanical engineering to cover off issues, design management of in-house and outside resources, guidance and enforce code compliance with Disney design standards, documentation, specifications, and life cycle cost analysis for best value. This role will require consistent and continuous close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and multiple Disney project teams including FAM, WDI, Entertainment, and Operations.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will manage from inception, design development, implementation, and sustainment of above and underground mechanical utilities, and various mechanical systems supporting the many assets at the Disneyland Resort. You will help develop bid level construction documents, including drawings and specifications, support the development and authoring of requests for proposals (RFPs) and develop workload estimates with critical path schedule dates to support our project management team.
You will report to the Senior Manager - MEP Engineering with DLR Architecture & Facilities Engineering.
Leadership:
• In this collaborative role, you will act as Owner’s Technical Representative on projects from concept through sustainment throughout the Disneyland Resort and ancillary properties.
• Perform as Owner’s Representative, including witnessing the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed.
Management:
• Manage the design and development of contract documents of projects with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations and demolition work that comply with specifications and code requirements.
Technical Skills:
• Use and build your experience to develop concept designs and RFP’s (Request for Proposals).
• Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications and ensure that all projects are designed and executed to applicable local and state codes and statutes.
• Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor’s requests for information per Resort standards.
• Site visits to problem solve issues and minimize schedule impacts.
Relationship:
• Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and enforce Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details.
• Assist Project and Design Managers to resolve design compliance issues relating to Projects requirements. Validate that all Item Specifications are consistent with products installed before archiving manuals.
• Build enhanced communications and expectations to successfully execute all projects.
Basic Qualifications/You Will Have
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and design performing in various mechanical system design, implementation and sustainment. In-depth experience in multivarious kitchen systems, and other food and beverage facility related mechanical systems.
• Experience with being owner’s technical representation, concept thru sustainment of designs, and direct construction support, all with working knowledge of federal, state standards and codes.
Required Education and Licensure
• BS Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university.
• Alt - Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) with specific discipline focus with Professional Engineer progress
Preferred Education and Licensure
• Professional Engineer License in the State of California or via reciprocity

he hiring range for this position in California is $123,000.00-$152,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
