    Department Information

     

    The Chemistry Department at CSU Pueblo is recognized for its excellence in both teaching and research involving both undergraduate and master’s level students. The Chemistry Department offers the following degrees: (1) Chemistry BS (including one certified by the American Chemical Society), (2) Chemistry MS, and (3) Biochemistry MS. The Cannabis Biology and Chemistry Program is housed in the Chemistry Department and offers both BS and MS degrees. The Department also delivers coursework that supports numerous other campus programs including Nursing, Exercise Science, Health Sciences, Engineering, and Physics. The Chemistry Department is a Colorado Commission of Higher Education designated Program of Excellence with a substantial array of instrumentation including FT-NMR (2), GC-MS (3), GC-FID (3), AFM, LC-MS, LC-MS-MS, ICP-MS, TLC-MS, UV-Vis, HPLC, SEM, AND FT-IR (2).

    Description of Job

    This is a Full-Time Temporary Position that is eligible for CSU Pueblo Benefits

     

    Responsibilities of this non-tenure track, nine month position include teaching 12 credit hours per semester in chemistry and/or cannabis biology and chemistry courses; holding regular office hours for students; fulfilling basic service duties to the program, college, university, and/or profession. This emergency temporary appointment is designated as a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025–2026 Academic Year.

    Duties

    + Teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in accordance with program needs.

    + Engaging in scholarly activity with a tenured or tenure-track Chemistry Department faculty member which enhances curricular offerings, current levels of basic or applied research, external levels of funding, opportunities for student research or internship, and / or standing of faculty and programs amongst peers in their discipline. Activities recognized as scholarship should involve peer evaluation and / or dissemination.

    + Participating in the self-governance of Department / College / University, contributing to the professional service responsibility of the University with the local community and / or the service needs of professional organizations within the discipline, and academic advising. Participating in Department / College / University meetings, functions, professional development, and/or other assigned duties. Participating in outreach activities associated with the Chemistry Department

     

    Salary Range

     

    $51,100-$61,500

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Earned doctoral degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Ability to instruct introductory chemistry, general chemistry, introductory organic chemistry, and/or separations/extraction chemistry and related labs.

    + Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in university level chemistry.
