    Essential functions (job duties):

    The WSU School of Social Work Center for Behavioral Health and Justice (CBHJ) is seeking a highly qualified Research Assistant/Data Analyst to support grant-funded research projects. This full-time position will assist the Data Director and Data Manager in planning and executing data collection and analysis for multiple research projects, with special attention to Youth Justice projects. Candidate must have a degree – preferably a master’s degree, PhD, or PhD candidate – with prior experience working with administrative data. Advanced skills in database management (i.e., SPSS,Excel) as well as advanced analytic approaches (i.e., multivariate statistics) are required. SQL and/or R knowledge will be given priority. This individual will act as the lead team member for a specific administrative data set and will assist other lead members on their assigned administrative data sets. The successful applicant will be a self-starter and has excellent communication (written and oral) skills. Content knowledge of, and research experience in, behavioral health and criminal/juvenile justice is required. Previous experience in writing peer-reviewed publications using advanced statistics is also desirable.

     

    Assist with data collection, entry, coding, cleaning, and merging of multiple administrative data sets.

     

    Conduct data analysis (descriptive, bivariate, predictive, longitudinal, etc.).

     

    Write reports for funders and interested parties, and prepare manuscripts and presentations for academic dissemination.

     

    Be proficient with database management/manipulation, multivariate statistics, and analytic programs including SPSS, Excel, etc.

     

    SQL and/or R knowledge preferred.

     

    Travel to site visits and other meetings with interested parties in various locations across the state.

     

    Regularly attend team meetings and planning sessions and work collaboratively with data and project team members on campus and virtually.

     

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Content knowledge of, and research experience in youth justice data and systems are required.

     

    Previous experience in writing peer-reviewed publications using advanced statistics is desired.

     

    Transportation across Michigan required.

    Preferred qualifications:
