    The Position

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

     

    This position will be located in either Las Vegas and the surrounding area; or Indian Springs, Nevada. Wardens administer the institutional procedures and post orders for the institution to ensure currency and effectiveness in meeting institutional needs, in support of the Department's mission; monitor and facilitate programs within the institution and related facilities as they relate to education, vocational training, Prison Industries, self-help programs, religious activities, and volunteer programs; and administer a classification program per administrative regulations requirements. Incumbents formulate administrative policies and procedures; evaluate and determine program goals and operational activities; and develop plans and procedures of the work operation for the various sections and units; such as the institution's programs area, culinary, mental health units, reception/diagnostic centers, segregation units, condemned persons housing unit, close supervision units, and infirmary. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

     

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement or closely related field and one year of management experience equivalent to an Associate Warden with responsibility for either operations-related areas such as custody, culinary and maintenance or programs-related areas such as classification, medical, and education and rehabilitation; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement or closely related field and two years of professional experience equivalent to an Associate Warden with responsibility for either operations-related areas such as custody, culinary and maintenance or programs-related areas such as classification, medical, and education and rehabilitation; OR two years of experience as an Associate Warden in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education at or below the Bachelor's degree and management experience as described above.

     

    Special Notes

     

    Education above a Bachelor's degree does not substitute for the required experience.

    Special Requirements

    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
